Barely 7 days to the Saturday, February 25, 2023 general elections, the signs are getting clearer day-by-day as the avalanche of supports from critical leaders and stakeholders in Orlu zone; trade unions, sociocultural groups, religious leaders, different support groups and traditional rulers have  expressly endorsed the candidacy of Chief Charles Ahize of Labour Party, as the next Senator to represent Imo West Senatorial District in the 10th National Assembly, God willing.

On good records, a number of verifiable respected pillars of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), her leadership and membership, including other political parties are strongly rooting for Chief Charles Ahize having been tipped by different independent unbiased opinion polls as the possible winner of the Saturday, February 25, 2023 general election, as the APC is not in any way into consideration given the untold hardship her government has brought upon ndi Orlu- Imo State, who have since the security quagmire in the zone,  deserted their ancestral homes and farmlands for fear of the unknown;  thereby, making it a desolate land.
In lieu of the above, the leadership of Oru East Local Government Area, Imo State,  under its political arrowhead, Hon. Lasbery Okoroafor-Anyanwu; a former Commissioner in the state, an avowed  ally of Owelle Rochas Okorocha, and powerful political strategist, during his remarks, affirmed the support of Oru East LGA for Chief Charles Ahize of Labour Party.
According to him:  “Even before the Imo West Senatorial hopeful, Charles Ahize, came for consultation with Oru people, they had already made up their minds to vote for him on the election day, as he remains the most credible alternative in the race”.
While lampooning the senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Osita Izunaso, they described him as a selfish politician, who cares more about self than the masses, as his 8 years stint at the National Assembly did not make any meaningful impacts on the lives of Orlu people who entrusted their collective destiny and mandate upon him when they voted him into office as a member of the House of Representatives between 2003- 2007; and later as a Senator, between 2011 – 2015.
According to Hon.Chief Lasbery Okoro- Anyanwu,  having taken the above  plumb jobs and many more at the national level, as a leader from Oru Nation, Chief Osita Izunaso performed abysmally during his days as an elected representative of Orlu Senatorial zone in two different capacities; House of Representatives’ member and Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
In his own words; Chief Okoroanyawu said: “We are not pleased with Osita Izunaso and his political outings. If Izunaso is running for Senate, we don’t know. Maybe, he is taking our previous support for granted.
However, he should know that the era of writing election results from one’s home or in a hotel is over. Charley, having spoken to us, I can assure you that you will win majority of the votes coming from Oru East LGA”.
Chief Okoroanyawu promised to mobilize other LGA leaders for a sensitization campaign to properly educate Oru East electorate not just to vote for Peter Obi on the election day and go home, but should  also vote for Chief Charles Ahize for Orlu Senatorial zone.
Chief Charles Ahize, while addressing his audience after a brief introduction by the spokesman of Charles Ahize Senatorial Campaign Organisation, Dr. Batos Nwadike, told the leadership of Oru East LGA that he has come to recover Orlu zone and hand it over to the people through time – tested,  robust, effective, inclusive and people centered representation against the norm of previous style of representation.
On the security challenge in the area, Chief Ahize told Oru East leaders that he has the master plan to end insecurity in the zone through consultations,  dialogue and synergy with president – generals of town unions, traditional rulers,  political leaders, security operatives and the agitating groups in the Orlu zone, where all the stakeholders will come to a round table to resolve the issue rather than resorting to the use of brute force.
The highly cerebral, energetic, and development driven senatorial hopeful, Chief Charles  Ugochukwu Ahize-Chukwu, also promised to leverage on his goodwill, far-reaching contacts, political visibility and strong voice to raise the bar of social awareness and political consciousness of a strategic Senatorial zone like Orlu in attracting Federal Government presence to the oil rich area.
Responding to a comment over his delay in coming to Oru East LGA for consultations, the senatorial hopeful and rave of the moment, Charles Ahize, while sincerely apologizing to the leaders however, told them it was not out of negligence but the expectations of the time and season have not made it easy to reach them at the same time.
From one speaker to the other, the leadership of Oru East LGA spoke with one voice as they unanimously adopted and endorsed Chief Charles Ahize as their consensus candidate for Orlu Senatorial seat ahead of the Saturday, February 25, 2023 general elections.
This reporter captured the following leaders in attendance; Chief Marcel Azuanuka, Chairman of Labour Party in Oru East LGA,  Mrs. Amaka Nze, Labour Party Women Leader, Chief Aloysius Orobe,  Chief Ifeanyi Nnaoma, Chief Lasbrey Okafor-Anyanwu, Chief Donatus Ejifugha, Chief Jude Nwakibu, Chief Ossy Nnewuihe, among other respected leaders and stakeholders present at the political parley.
