The leading candidate and rave of the moment for the Imo West Senatorial District under the platform of Labour Party, Chief Charles Ugochukwu Ahize-Chukwu, on Thursday, 9th February, 2023, consulted the Council of Njaba Traditional Rulers, where he presented his legislative agenda for the good people of Orlu Zone if elected into office by the grace of God.
Chief Ahize, who was accompanied to the meeting by members of his campaign organization led by the Director General, Hon. Dr. C. C. Ubah, gave the royal fathers the assurances of an inclusive leadership, effective representation and legislative exploits in opening a new vista of an industrialized oil-rich Orlu Zone, where teeming youths, who roam the streets aimlessly, would be productively engaged.
Giving them a brief background about his education, participation in the formulation of critical economic policies in Nigeria, political trajectory and need to recover Orlu zone at a challenging time like this and for posterity sake; the Ihioma-Orlu born established entrepreneur and business mogul told the royal fathers at the meeting that he was so passionate about the Igbo people and Orlu zone thus, his early participation in the fight for Igbo emancipation through agitation for equity, fairness, justice and inclusiveness in the Nigerian political millieu. Going down memory lane, Chief Charles Ahize stated that he had contributed to the development of Orlu communities in the last 30 years without noise, without holding public office and without also attempting to hug the media headlines, because to him selfless community service is one of life’s most awesome privileges. Regretting that those who do so lately always give their little contribution towards community development political coloration.
A true Imo stakeholder and team player, a rather confident Charles Ahize and humanist, told the traditional rulers that he had never been at a loggerhead with anybody in his community or being indicted by EFCC or anything associated with public funds as he has never held a political office before, but has maintained relationship with people from all strata of life.
In his own words, the Labour Party leading light in Orlu zone and frontline senatorial candidate, Chief Charles Ahize stated: “I am a lawyer by training and trader by calling. Just like Peter Obi, I also kept my university certificate in the cabinet in pursuit of wealth creation with which to use in contributing my own quota towards a better society starting from my own home; Orlu and Imo State”.
Being humbled by the assurances of his possible victory at the polls given the gale of endorsements and show of solidarity across Orlu senatorial zone; the frontline candidate of Labour Party for Imo West Senate seat, Ahize, promised never to let ndi Orlu down as he presented his well articulated legislative agenda to the traditional rulers as part of his social contract with the good people of Njaba LGA if elected into office.
Chief Ahize, however, assured that the security challenge in Orlu Zone, which is one of the pivotal issues he would pragmatically address, would be tackled by engaging the critical stakeholders, presidents – general of town unions, traditional rulers, security agents and the agitating groups so as to find a common ground in resolving the lingering security nightmare that had made Orlu zone desolate as people have abandoned their ancestral homes and farmlands for fear of the unknown.
Responding to their illustrious son and Orlu senatorial hopeful, Chief Charles Ugochukwu Ahize-Chukwu, in the Saturday, February 25, 2023 general elections, the traditional ruler of Nkume Autonomous Community and Chairman, Njaba Council of Ndieze, HRH Eze Anthony Onyeka, commended Chief Ahize for according the traditional institution in Njaba LGA respect, by that singular August visit.
Eze Anthony Onyeka, a calm, calculated and outspoken traditional ruler, affirmed that Chief Charles Ahize, even before his foray into partisan politics, had been a recurring decimal in the leadership discuss of not just Orlu zone and Imo State, but also Nigeria at large given his bouyant heart for humanity and selfless service to communities in Orlu senatorial zone.
While joining hands with other traditional rulers from Njaba LGA to bless the senatorial aspiration of the Labour Party leading candidate, Eze Anthony Onyeka urged Orlu incoming- Senator, Charles Ahize, to implement his developmental agenda for Orlu senatorial zone in particular, and the South East in general, if elected, by pushing for legislations that would widen the developmental horizon of Igboland through his sponsored legislative bills and related motions.
The traditional rulers therefore, wished him well as he left for his political rally in Njaba, where he first had a town hall meeting with Njaba stakeholders and representatives of the various trade unions before hitting the road for his mega political rally, while other contenders in the race with him were at their respective luxurious hotel apartments in Owerri and Abuja, “maradonically” waiting for some kind of political magic on February 25, 2023 general elections.
Nevertheless, saying they would fail for the third time is an understatement since the people have taken a position to massively vote for Peter Obi as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Chief Charles Ahize as the Senator for Imo West Senatorial District on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2023, through their party logo of Papa, Mama and Pikin; Labour Party.
