3 Cashiers Arrested For Carting Away N5.5m At Pharmaceutical Company

Police operatives from the Area M Command, Idimu, Lagos State, have arrested three female cashiers of Greenland Pharmaceutical Company Limited for allegedly conspiring and looting drugs worth over N5.5m.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspects,  Adejumo Oluwatobi, 27, Raji Bukola, 27 and Olarewaju Olabisi, 21, were arrested and charged for stealing the items as the cashiers of the company.
While Oluwatobi was employed as cashier at Akesan branch of the company, she was alleged to have between May, 2023 and April, 2024,  stolen N3.578m while Bukola and Olabisi at the Ipaja branch allegedly stole N1.976m from the sales belonging to the owner, Justice Omokhue between January, 2024 to May, 2024.
According the Police, the alleged fraud got exposed when the company conducted an internal audit and discovered that the money for some sold items were missing and the suspects were summoned to explain what happened but they were unable to give satisfactory responses.
After rounds of interrogation, the Police found them culpable for conversation of the proceeds of the sales to their personnel use and charged them for conspiracy and stealing.
However, they pleaded not guilty when they were arraigned.
The prosecutor, Supol Benedict Aigbokhan, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since they pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that they actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, K.A. Ariyo, granted them bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned till 25th May, 2024, for mention while the defendants were remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when they will perfect their bail conditions.
