A 65-year old man, Bashiru Adeleke, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly defiling his neighbour’s 14- year old girl after sucking her breasts and getting her confused.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on September,2024 at No. 23 Ayelabowo Street, Alhaji Ede, Igando, Lagos, where they reside.
According to the Police,  the man lured the victim to his apartment, used words of mouth to hold her before he fondled and sucked her breasts, which got her confused and unable to resist him.
After the man’s arrest and having been found culpable after rounds of interrogation by the Police, he was charged before the Ogba Magistrate Court for defilement under the Criminal Laws of the State.
The charge read:
COUNT I :”That you, Bashiru Adeleke ‘M’, sometimes in September, 2024 at about unknown time at No. 23 Ayelabowo Street Alhaji Ede, Igando, Lagos State in the Lagos Magisterial District, did defile the victim, 14 years old and thereby committed an offence contrary and punishable under Section 137 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”
COUNT 11:”Thut you, Bashiru Adeleke ‘M’, on the same date, time and place at the aforementioned Magisterial District, did sexually assault the victim 14 years old and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 263 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”
However, the Court did not take his plea when he was arraigned following a motion moved by the Prosecutor,  Inspector John Iberedem, asking the Court to give a date and refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice.
The Presiding Magistrate,  Mr. L.A Owolabi, ordered his remand in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when the DPP’s report will be ready, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
