3 Habitual Criminals Return To Prison For Burgling School & Carting Away N5m Property

Barely few days after returning from prison, three suspected habitual criminals, Yaya Mohammed, David Fagbeyiro and Chijioke Samuel, have been linked to the burgling of houses and public school and carting away over N5m property in Lagos State. 

 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspected criminals were earlier arrested and charged before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for conspiracy and stealing, then remanded in custody after they were granted bail.

 

However, after they were released from custody,  they conspired and broke into houses in Americana community in Ijedodo area of Lagos. They stole some properties including power generator belonging to one Ochuko Isiewore worth over N300,000.

 

The same night they broke into Ijedodo Grammar School and carted away items including central processing unit (CPU), uninterruptible power supply (UPS), keyboards, mouse, computer cable wires, electrical wires and monitors valued N5,000,000.00.

 

However, the residents later discovered that it was the defendants that were behind the robbery incident in the area and contacted the Police at Isheri Oshun Division. The Police operatives moved into action, eventually arrested and detained them at the station for interrogation.

 

After interrogation, the Police found them culpable and charged them before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for the alleged offence.

 

The charges read:

COUNT:”That you, YAYA MOHAMMED ‘M’ AND ONE DAVID FAGBEYIRO ‘M’, CHIJIOKE SAMUEL ‘M’ who were earlier arraigned with charge number MM/E/36/25, on the 20/02/2025 at about 07:00hrs at Americana community Ijeododo ljegun, in the Lagos state magisterial district, did conspire together to commit felony therein, and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 411 criminal law of Lagos state Nigeria 2015.”

 

COUNT II:”That you, YAYA MOHAMMED ‘M’ AND ONE DAVID FAGBEYIRO ‘M’, CHIJIOKE SAMUEL ‘M’ who were earlier arraigned on the 20/02/2025, the same place and time at the aforementioned magisterial district, did conduct yourselves in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by entering into the premises of one OCHUKO ISIEWORE ‘M’, to steal and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 168(d) criminal law of Lagos state Nigeria 2015.”

 

COUNT III:”That you YAYA MOHAMMED ‘M’ AND ONE DAVID FAGBEYIRO ‘M’, CHIJIOKE SAMUEL ‘M’ who were earlier arraigned on the 20/02/2025, the same place and time at the aforementioned magisterial district, did steal one big generator engine valued at N350,000.00 (three hundred and fifty thousand naira) belonging to one OCHUKO ISIEWORE ‘M’, central processing unit (CPU), uninterruptible power supply (UPS), keyboards, mouse, computer cable wires, electrical wires and monitors valued N5,000,000.00 (five million naira) properties of Ijeododo Grammar School and thereby committed an offence contrary to section 280 and punishable under section 287 criminal law of Lagos state Nigeria 2015.”

 

However, two of the defendants pleaded not guilty while the other defendant pleaded guilty.

 

The prosecutor, Simeon Njue, mentioned to the Court that the defendants were habitual criminals, they had a matter before the Court and were released from prison custody before they went back to crime and stole the items.

 

The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. T.A. Popoola, ordered the defendants to be remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town and adjourned the matter till 17th March, 2025, for further hearing and facts and sentence.
