3 Suspects Arraigned For Forging Death Certificate of Late Major Taiwo Akangbe Over Property

Three suspects, Gloria Agubosim, 37, Olukoya Olufemi, 58 and Adeite Kayode Solomon, 49, have landed in trouble for allegedly forging the death certificate of Late Major Taiwo Mutairu Akangbe in Lagos State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspects have been arrested and charged for conspiracy and forgery under the Criminal Law of the State.
The incident happened on 17th September, 2024 at Shomolu, Lagos.
According to the Police, the suspects conspired and forged the death certificate to claim an undisclosed property before the information leaked and the matter was reported to the Commissioner of Police Monitoring Unit for investigation.
They were subsequently arrested and detained at the State Command for interrogation over the alleged offence. They were found culpable after interrogation and charged before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence.
The charges read:
COUNT I:- “That you, GLORIA AGUBOSIM ‘F’, OLUKOYA OLUFEMI, SUNDAY ‘M’, ADEITE KAYODE SOLOMON ‘M’ and others at large on the 17th September, 2024, at Shomolu, Lagos in the Lagos magisterial district, did conspire together to commit felony to wit forgery and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 411 of the criminal law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”
COUNT II:-“That you, GLORIA AGUBOSIM ‘F’, OLUKOYA OLUFEMI SUNDAY ‘M’, ADEITE KAYODE SOLOMON ‘M’ and others at large on same date, time and place in the aforementioned magisterial district, did forge death certificate of Late Major Taiwo Mutairu Akangbe and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 363 (1) of the criminal law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”
They pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Josephine Ihkayere, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since they pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that they actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. L.A. Owolabi, granted them bail with sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendants were remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when they will perfect their bail conditions.
