3 Robbers Arrested For Removing Roof & Carting Away N6.5m Cables

Police operatives from the Area G Command, Ogba, of the Lagos State Command, have arrested three notorious robbers for allegedly removing a house roof, carting away electrical appliances and cables worth N6.5m and selling the items as scrap to buyers.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspects, Sogbesan Gbenga, 19, Odunayo Sogbesan, 22, Damilare Sogbesan, 19, were arrested when they invaded the residence of Janet Abiodun at Coker Street, Ifako Ijaiye area of Lagos, at night causing damage by removing the aluminium roof, carting away everything and selling them to their accomplices.
However, they ran out of lucky as the Police trailed, arrested and detained them at the Command for interrogation. While there, they made confessional statements and mentioned their buyers, Rabilu Isah, 19 and Mohammed Bala, 20.
The three principal suspects and the two buyers were arrested and charged before the Ogba Magistrate Court for their alleged involvement in criminal activity in the area.
While the trio were charged for malicious damage and stealing, the duo of Isah and Bala were charged for buying stolen items under the Criminal Laws of the State, which attracts several years of imprisonment.
They pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Akeem Raji, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since they pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that they actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. B.O. Osunsanmi, granted them bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and addresses verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendants were remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when they will perfect their bail conditions.
