After 32 long years, a Nigerian school has finally won the gold medal at the prestigious World Affairs Challenge (WAC) 2024, organized by WorldDenver. Christ the King College (CKC), Onitsha, Anambra State, representing Nigeria, has emerged as the global winner, securing the coveted first-place position for developing innovative solutions for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

It is important to recall that Governor Soludo, in his first 8 months in office, recruited 5000 quality teachers, including newly recruited teachers who were posted to returned mission schools, in addition to the existing teachers in those schools. The government pays their salaries, and every month, the Soludo government spends about N1 billion on the salaries of teachers in mission-public schools.

Additionally, Governor Soludo’s administration distributed 2,000 laptops to teachers and heads of schools in the first phase of providing work tools to teachers in public schools and mission-public schools.

The government also provided N1.524 billion in grants to returned mission schools in the state and N700 million for mission tertiary institutions, totaling N2.224 billion.

The fact that Anambra schools and students have broken the 32-year jinx is a testament to the ongoing revolution in the Anambra educational sector. It is a remarkable achievement that highlights the commitment of the Soludo administration’s efforts to creating education that is competitively exportable abroad and valuable at home.
