4 Teenagers Burgle Shop, Cart Away Phones Worth N5m

Police operatives from Ikotun Division have arrested four teenagers, who burgled a shop and carted away mobile phones worth over N5m during the #EndSARS protest and escaped in Lagos.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened in October 2020 at Ikotun, where the suspects, Lukman Asiwaji, 17, Oseni Wahab, 17, Gbadamosi Sodiq, 18 and Adams Slade,18, pretended to be protesters and looted the shop belonging to Goodness Godwin.

However, they were later caught and detained at Ikotun Police Station and transferred to the Police Command, Ikeja, Lagos, where they reportedly confessed their various roles over the alleged theft.

The Police did not state if the mobile phones were recovered or not when they were apprehended. But they where charged before the Ogba Magistrates Court for conspiracy, burglary and stealing.

They pleaded not guilty. 

The prosecutor, Supol Kehinde Ajayi, asked the Court to give a date for hearing to enable the Police to prove that they actually committed the alleged offence.

Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A.O.Ajibade, granted them bail in the sum of N200,000 each with two sureties in like sum.

They were remanded in the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town in Lagos pending when they will perfect their bail conditions.

The matter was adjourned till 20th May, 2021, for mention.
