48-Year-Old Docked Over Alleged N24.4m Lexus RX 350 Fraud In Magodo

A Lagos Magistrates Court sitting in Ogba has arraigned a 48-year-old man, Michael Chinedu Ezurike, over alleged N24.4m Lexus fraud in Magodo area of Lagos State, court documents showed.
The defendant was arraigned before Magistrate Mrs. O. Kusanu on offences including conspiracy and fraud, according to the charge sheet sighted by http://pmexpressng.com.
According to the charge information, the defendant was charged alongside others at large in connection with an incident dated 13th January, 2025, in Magodo, Lagos Magisterial District.
The charge sheet marked with case details indicated that the matter was filed by the Commissioner of Police against Michael Chinedu Ezurike ‘m’ aged 48 years before the court.
Count I of the charge sheet alleged that the defendant and others at large on 13th January 2025 at Magodo Lagos conspired together to commit felony to wit stealing, an offence punishable under section 411 CAP CH, C17 Vol.3, of the criminal law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
Count II alleged that on the same date, time and place, the defendant and others at large with intent to defraud, unlawfully obtained the sum of Twenty Four Million, Four Hundred Thousand Naira (N24,400,000.00).
The sum was alleged to be from one Jude Ukaefu Ndubuisi under the pretence to sell a Lexus RX 350, 2013 model, which the defendant did not fulfill, as stated in the charge sheet.
The prosecution alleged that the act in Count II was contrary to and punishable under Section 314(1) of the criminal law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
Count III further alleged that on the same date, time and place in the Lagos Magisterial District, the defendant did steal the sum of Twenty Four Million, Four Hundred Thousand Naira (N24,400,000.00) belonging to Jude Ukaefu Ndubuisi ‘m’.
The offence in Count III was listed as punishable under section 287 of the criminal law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015, the document stated.
The charge sheet also referenced officers involved in the matter, including Spr. Ayogu Evaristus and CSP. Maishanu Sunday Rieni, identified as O/C Tactical Team, Isheri-Magodo, Lagos.
The document showed approval from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions, Lagos State Ministry of Justice, Office Ogba, as indicated by “DPP APPROVED” on the charge sheet.
However, the defendant pleaded not guilty when he was arraigned before the Court.
The prosecutor, SP Philip Ademigbuji, asked the Court to give a date for hearing to enable the Police to provide evidence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. Kusanu, granted him bail with two sureties who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment, while the matter was adjourned for mention.
The defendant was remanded in the custody at Correctional Center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions as ordered by the court in the Lagos Magisterial District.
