5 Things You Missed At The Big Brother Naija Auditions

Posted on February 5, 2019

As auditions for the fourth edition of Big Brother Naija began today February 1 and going by the pictures and comments on social media, this year’s auditions have recorded possibly the highest population in the history of the series.

This spike could be attributed to the increase in audition venues from six to eight. They include: Abuja, Benin, Calabar, Enugu, Lagos, Ibadan, Port Harcourt, and Warri.

Thousands of young people flooded the venues with hopes of being chosen as housemates in the Big Brother Naija House competing for the ultimate prize.

As expected, the Lagos venue has been adjudged to have hosted the largest crowd with an estimated 6,000 BBNaija hopefuls on day one of the auditions and a total of 13,000 participants across the 8 cities. Many have compared the audition crowd to typical carnivals and other religious concerts.

It was clear that the organizers, MultiChoice Nigeria, anticipated the turnout and prepared adequately for it as there were private security men, police officers and LASTMA officials, who were on ground to coordinate vehicular traffic. Medical personnel were also present to manage any issues that may arise.

Irrespective of the teeming crowd and seeming logistical challenges, MultiChoice has been able to manage the situation effectively.

But as the show is yet to kick off, however, it’s safe to say the show before the main show has already begun.

Here are 5 things you missed at the auditions:

1. The Marriage Proposal: Yes! A marriage proposal happened during the Big Brother Naija auditions. A BBNaija hopeful, Thompson Alade proposed to another contestant, Jessica Arowolo at the Lagos audition venue.

2. A Dance Battle: Obviously, the Big Brother Naija contestants are not chosen via a dance competition. However, minutes after some potential housemates were called into the audition room they challenged themselves to a dance battle.

3. Bassey’s Fun Chat Session with BBNaija Hopefuls: BBNaija alumnus, Bassey stopped by the Lagos audition venue today to chat and take pictures with some of the potential Big Brother Naija candidates.

4. An opportunity to make new friends and reunite with old ones:Considering the fact that thousands of people attended the auditions on both days across the 8 cities, there’s a probability of making new friends and possibly reuniting with old ones.

5. Incredible Fashion and Hairstyles: This year’s Big Brother Naija audition participants came with some amazing fashion trends and weird hairstyles. We certainly feel you could have learnt a thing or two from the hopefuls.
