The Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, has accepted the global hosting rights for the 5th High-Level Ministerial Conference on Antimicrobial Resistance in 2026, given in recognition of President Bola Tinubu’s health sector reforms.

The Coordinating Minister further noted that Nigeria’s National Action Plan on AMR, which integrates One Health principles, has mobilized human, animal, and environmental health sectors to work in synergy and is being recognized globally as a leader for Africa in the field.

The Minister made this known at the handover ceremony from Saudi Arabia to Nigeria, which marks Africa’s first hosting rights of the global summit, at the 4th High-Level Ministerial Conference on AMR in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
