The Senate President, Dr Ahmad Lawan, the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the Lagos State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, have showered praises on the lawmaker representing Lagos West Senatorial District, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, for his unprecedented desire to continually empower his constituents.

The high profile dignitaries spoke at the Police College, Ikeja, Lagos, during the 5th edition of the Town Hall Meeting and Empowerment Programme of the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance.

The Senate President, Dr Lawan described Senator Adeola as a man, whose love for the people of his Senatorial District is unprecedented. “He is always seeking for ways to empower his constituents. His love for his people is tremendous,” Lawan said.

The Senate President also described Senator Adeola as a very important member of the Upper Chambers of the National Assembly, saying he is a man blessed with resilience and energy to serve efficiently and effectively.

“He is so energetic and passionate about development and growth of the country as well as empowering his people. Since I’ve known him since 2011 when he came into the National Assembly, he has proven to be a man that can deliver,” the Senate President said.

The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, stated that the state is very proud of Senator Adeola describing him as a blessing to the party and the state.

“We are very proud of him and I can tell you that we are happy at what he is doing and with his contribution to eradicating poverty in the state.”

“He is representing us well at the National Assembly and by this, I mean the whole Lagos State and not only Lagos West Senatorial District,” Sanwo-Olu said.

Speaking earlier, the State APC Chairman, Pastor Cornellius Ojelabi, described Senator Adeola as not only a worthy representative of the people but also of the party.

“I’m a living witness to his empowerment programmes and we at the party level are very proud of him. He is one of those lifting the image of our party. His empowerment programmes have impacted positively on the people and we will want other Lawmakers to toe his line,” Pastor Ojelabi said.

Also speaking, the Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Professor Akin Abayomi, commended Senator Adeola for the gesture of donating 10 ambulances to General Hospitals in his senatorial district.

Senator Adeola stated that he will continue to put in place empowerment programmes that will eradicate poverty in the society.

“Our aim is to take people out of poverty hence, we will always continue to ensure that we teach our people how to fish rather than give them pieces of fishes to eat,” Yayi said.

The trio of Dr Lawan, Governor Sanwo-olu and Pastor Ojelabi advised beneficiaries of the empowerment programme to make judicious use of the opportunity so that others can also benefit in future.

High point of the event was the donation of 10 ambulances and 10 child incubators for 10 General Hospitals in Lagos West Senatorial District.

Also, seven Police Area Commands in the Senatorial District were presented with Toyota Hilux SUVs while another one was donated to the State Police Command. There was also distribution of 50 mini-buses, distribution of three trailer loads of medical equipment and drugs to 20 Public Health Centres in Lagos West Senatorial District.

Hundreds of sewing machines, welding and vulcanizing machines, grinding machines, generators, hair dressing equipment and deep freezers were also distributed to various beneficiaries in the Senatorial District, which is the largest in terms of population in the country.

It should be noted that Senator Adeola has also facilitated projects such as: road construction, solar street lights, vocational, entrepreneurship and ICT trainings. More than 8,000 constituents have benefitted from the vocational, entrepreneurship and ICT training programmes. They were given starter packs and cash grants after the various training sessions.
