7 Armed Robbery Suspects Who Snatched AK-47 Rifle From Police Officer Nabbed

Police operatives from the Commissioner of Police Special Squad 2 of the State Command have arrested seven suspected armed robbers, who attacked and snatched AK-47 rifle from a Police officer in Iju Ishaga area of Lagos State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspects included Toheeb Oyekunle, Victor Jimoh, Samuel Okanlawon, Segun Babatunde, Pelumi Ajuloye, Mohammed Ibrahim and Bello Ahmed.
The suspects were arrested between 19th December and 27th December, 2023, in Agege area of Lagos State and Oyo State following intelligence information gathered by the CP Special Squad.
During the operation that lasted for several days between Lagos and Oyo States, the Police also recovered cut to size AK47 rifle from the suspects as exhibit and are currently undergoing interrogation at the State Police Command.
This was confirmed by the Commissioner of Police, CP Fayoade Adegoke, at the State Command headquarters.
While parading the suspects, the Police boss stated that efforts were being made to arrest other gang members now at large and recover other operational weapons of the gang.
Other suspected criminals arrested by the Special Squad included Idowu Yunusa, 25, who was arrested on 11th January, 2024 at Isutu terminal in Igando area of Lagos with a locally made short gun while attempting to rob one Saheed Ibrahim. The Police recovered the gun as exhibit and he has as well confessed to being a member of the Eiye cult and a robbery gang in Igando area of Lagos.
Another suspect arrested included Danilola Ontinrede, 36, who was arrested at Mile 12 area of Lagos with locally fabricated Beretta pistol and live ammunition as exhibits and he had already confessed to be a member of robbery gang operating within the Lagos metropolis.
CP Adegoke stated that all suspects would be charged to Court at the conclusion of investigations by the Police for their alleged criminal offences under the Criminal laws of the State.
He assured Lagosians that the Command under his watch would continue to do everything operationally possible to ensure that crime and criminality is brought to the barest minimum in the state.
