7 Reasons Soludo Will Get A 2nd Term In Anambra State

AZUH ARINZE

Take this from me – except the Almighty God and perhaps The Presidency decide otherwise – Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo will get a second term in office as the governor of Anambra State.

Very quickly, I will share with you seven reasons I came to that conclusion. No. 1 is very obvious and glaring too – all the other candidates jostling for the position with the former Central Bank of Nigeria governor are not his match, especially when placed side by side the professor.

No. 2 is the groundswell of support Soludo is enjoying from the four corners of the state.

I don’t know whether you have watched the trending video or listened to what Anambra’s hottest celebrity and businessman, Obinna Iyiegbu, aka Obi Cubana, said about him. Including the one by likeable politico and former Anambra governor, Senator Chris Ngige?

In case you missed either, or both, here’s a peek: Ngige, at a recent event in the state, asked him to “Carry Go!” While Obi Cubana, after a tour of his projects, summed up what he saw as “Unprecedented.” He did not stop there as he went further to predict that the November 8, 2025 election will be a “walk over” for Soludo.

Now, beyond those two fantastic endorsements, Soludo has done well in terms of performance. So, the No. 3 reason has to do with some of his laudable projects like the magical transformation of Okpoko, in Onitsha; the eye-popping New Government House; the irresistible Fun City; dozens of completed roads and so on, which have endeared him to many.

Agreed, he should have confronted the state’s security challenges much earlier, but the truth remains that it’s better late than never. In fact, with the trio of Eke Hit, Onye-eze Jesus and Akwa Okuko Ti Wara Aki currently on trial, for alleged kidnapping and other matters, Anambra State is no longer in the news for the wrong reasons, like before. Which is No. 4.

The No. 5 thing that will, no doubt, work in Soludo’s favour is the zoning arrangement in the state. Ordinarily, he should triumph over his co-contestants, even without factoring that into the equation. But the truth remains that denying him a second term will rupture that unwritten agreement and above all, leave people from his zone (Anambra South) very bitter. Which may ultimately not augur well for the state.

Another thing that will work for him, which I will like to put at No. 6, is that he has a mind of his own and can’t be easily intimidated or manipulated. Yes, ex-Governor Willie Obiano, we learnt, supported his emergence in 2022. However, since assuming office, Obiano hasn’t been able to push him around.

Finally, Soludo, for now, also seems to have the solutions to some of Anambra’s problems – and which, of course, he has been able to prove. Another four years for him, therefore, means that more problems will be solved.

In conclusion and ‘maka odi nma Ndi Anambra’, I hereby move that the man with the solution continues.

Daalu nu!
