It was devastating for 8 armed robbers, who set out for operations and were arrested in a popular hotel in Lagos State with a pistol recovered from them as exhibit.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at the popular Donchester Hotel, Iju area of Lagos, where the hotel is located.
The Police operatives from the Lagos State Command foiled the armed robbery attempt inside the popular hotel at Iju, thereby causing huge loss to the bandits, who had hoped to make a fortune in the hotel.
This was confirmed by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Adekunle Ajisebutu, who stated the suspected armed robbers numbering about eight, gained entry into Donchester Hotel, Iju, around 3:10am, some days ago in a bid to rob the guests.
The invaders were said to have been armed with sophisticated weapons and were advancing towards the lodges when the hotel workers noticed their movement through the surveillance systems.
It was gathered that the hotel manager immediately contacted the Police and operatives from Iju led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) raced to the location.
CSP Adekunle Ajisebutu said the suspects fled the scene as soon as they learnt of Police presence.
“But for the swift response of the Policemen, the robbers would have robbed the victims of their valuables. In a desperate move to escape arrest, the robbers abandoned one English barreta pistol and four mobile phones, which were recovered at the scene.”
“The Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alabi, has directed that 24-hour visibility policing of the area and other parts of the state should be carried out and sustained,” he said.
