Igbo Apex Leader, Chief Solomon Ogbonna Pays Courtesy Visit To Ezendigbo Ejigbo On Igbo Day Celebration

It was an emotional visit by the Apex leader and President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Lagos State, High Chief Solomon Ogbonna, as he paid a courtesy visit to the Ezendigbo of Ejigbo, Eze Alex Sunday Nwoye, on the successful Igbo Day Celebration and New Yam festival, which took place on Saturday 30th October, 2021.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that Chief Ogbonna was accompanied by the Chairman of Council of traditional rulers, Lagos State, Ezendigbo in Ibeju-Lekki, Eze Chris Offia and their entourage to the palace of Eze Nwoye In Ejigbo, Lagos.

Speaking on the visit, Chief Ogbonna stated that they came to honour Eze Nwoye and the entire Igbo people in Ejigbo for their successful Igbo Day Celebration, where they showcased Igbo tradition and culture to show the public that Igbo has rich cultural heritage.

Ogbonna stated that he is passionate about Igbo people and will continue to support the Igbo course to achieve its aspirations, stating that the Igbo as demonstrated by Ejigbo people led by Eze Nwoye that they will continue to champion Igbo course wherever they are.

In the same vein, Eze Offia stated that he had come on behalf of traditional rulers in Lagos State to honour Nwoye because he is one of the respected traditional rulers in Lagos State.
He noted that the traditional rulers are custodians of the Igbo culture and they will continue to support the course in Lagos State. He congratulated Ejigbo people for their successful Igbo Day Celebration.

Eze Nwoye thanked the leaders for coming to honour him despite their busy schedule and reiterated that he will continue to support Igbo Culture and tradition.


It was pomp and pageantry in Ejigbo as various dignitaries attended the event organized by the Igbo community resident in Ejigbo under the leadership of Ezendigbo, Eze Alex Sunday Nwoye, supported by Eze Nnamdi Emesim, Eze Emenike Okpaga and their lovely wives as the Mothers of the Day.

The Chairman of the occasion, Dr. Celestine Chinenye, Chief Medical Director, Optimal Hospital, Surulere, Lagos, advised the Igbo to love themselves and work in unity for the interest of Igbo people.


The event featured presentation of meritorious awards, special recognition to deserving sons and daughters, including friends and display of Igbo cultural heritage, New Yam festival and launching of 2022 calendar.

The Royal Father of the day was the Oba of Ejigbo, HRM, Oba Moroof Adekunle Ojoola, while Special Guests of Honour were the Executive Chairman, Ejigbo, LGA, Hon. Monsurudeen Obe, Sir Jude Idimogu, Lagos House of Assembly member, Hon. Kehinde Bamigbetan former commissioner in Lagos State, and Hon. Ganiyu Johnson, member House of Representatives.

Other top dignitaries included President of Igbo Speaking President, Chief Sunday Ude, Sir Odinaka Iwu (KSM) Onowu Ndigbo in Ejigbo, Chief Linus Onwuachumba, and many others including representative of Oba of Ejigbo and other dignitaries within and outside Lagos State.
