Oyetola Approves Reconstruction Of More Roads, Reassures Of Timely Completion Of Iconic Olaiya Flyover

The Executive Governor of the State of Osun, Gboyega Oyetola, has approved the reconstruction of more roads across the state while reassuring of the timely completion of the iconic Olaiya Flyover.

The State Government has approved and directed the immediate reconstruction of the following roads:

(i) Lawyer Atanda – Iwo/Osogbo Road Junction with Spur to Odo Ori/Adeeke Road, Iwo.

(ii) Akede Iyaloja – Amulegbaro Ojege Community Road, Oke Baale, Osogbo with Spur to CAC Road.

(iii) Professor Olu Aina (Adedapo Adegoke) Street – All Soul’s Anglican Church with Spur to Oyebanji Street, Osogbo.

Also the immediate Spot Rehabilitation of the 23km Ibokun – Imesi Ile – Ekiti State Boundary Road has been approved.

Making the disclosure, Engr Remi Omowaiye, Honourable Commissioner for Works and Transport, Osun, said. “The general public would recall that during the presentation of 2022 Budget Estimate to the State House of Assembly, His Excellency Isiaka Adegboyega Oyetola reiterated the commitment of the State Government to the Rehabilitation/Construction of some major township roads in the State and specifically mentioned that Ife and Ikire township road projects were already undergoing procurement process”.

“In line with that commitment, Mr. Governor has directed that procurement processes be tidied up in preparation for the Contract awards on the following township roads within the next few days;

(a) Ile Ife Selected Township roads,

(b) Ikire Selected Township roads,

(c) 11km Lameco Junction (Osogbo) – Agunbelewo – Okinni – Ilobu – Ifon Osun.”

“The State Government is also reassuring the general public that the Iconic Fly Over Bridge at Olaiya will be opened to traffic in a matter of weeks.

The Government is mindful of the inconveniences the general public is being subjected to since the commencement of construction of the flyover Bridge for the past Eight (08) months.”

“The State Government appreciates the commitment; cooperation, support and endurance of Osun people during this period and will leave no stone unturned to ensure expedient delivery of the flyover, observing global best practices.”

“As we are approaching the dry season, the State Government will soon embark on the massive Reconstruction and Rehabilitation of the majority of our roads in the State and will attend to the rehabilitation of those roads that were badly affected due to the diversion of traffic during the construction of Olaiya Flyover, especially Zenith Bank – Union Baptist Church – Odi Olowo Road which will be reconstructed fully.”
