The Executive Chairman of Ojodu LCDA, Lagos State, Hon. David Olusegun Odunmbaku, has once again reinforced his commitment to the actualization of his HEYS Agenda (Health, Education, Youth & Women Empowerment, and Social Infrastructure) by partnering with SPEED-UP LAGOS; an initiative of Lagos State Government, in order to empower the citizens through vocational trainings and skills acquisition.

The 2-week training, which commenced on Monday 7th February, 2022, will expose participants to intensive training on fabrics/souvenir production, catering and food technology, make-up and gele, cosmetics production and home essentials, fish farming, mechanical engineering and electronics.

Hon. Odunmbaku urged Ojodu citizens and residents to utilize this training opportunity and all the potentials in order to gain financial and economic independence amidst teaming challenges in the country. He promised that more empowerment programmes are in the pipeline as the exercise is not a one-off but a continuous one.

Furthermore, the participants will be duly certified in their various chosen fields after being tutored by seasoned professionals and instructors.

While recounting her experience at the training centre in Shogunro Ogba, one of the beneficiaries of Make-up/organic product training, Lara Odunuga, expressed her gratitude to Hon. Odunmbaku for organizing the training session.

“I thank our Chairman for giving us this sound training. When we finish, I can have a source of making money by rendering services to people and producing my own products. At least, I can become my own boss too” Lara said.

One of the facilitators, an agent of Necessary Measure against Poverty and Perversity (NEMAPP) under the SPEED-UP Lagos initiative, Remilekun Onasanya, expressed her eagerness to improve the lives of participants at the Centre through the training sessions, and also lauded the Executive Chairman for catering for the empowerment needs of Ojodu citizens which would definitely culminate into the realization of the society of our dream.

Likewise, the HOD Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Mrs Oluwakemi Adegbenro, clamoured for more participants amongst the residents concerning the benefit-studded training session.

“These trainings cost a fortune at other training institutes, but our Executive Chairman, Hon. David Olusegun Odunmbaku, in collaboration with SPEED-UP LAGOS, have made it available for the citizens free of charge. This is a rare opportunity which should be earnestly utilized. So, we would further use various means to draw the attention of the citizens to the programme” she said.
