Amawbia Market Fire: Ekwunife Visits Scene, Pledges To Draw Attention Of Federal Govt To Provide Succour

Following the unfortunate fire disaster that gutted a section of the popular Eke Oyibo market Amawbia, the Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Uche Ekwunife, PhD, has visited to ascertain the degree of damage, saying that she will raise a motion of urgent public importance to draw the attention of the federal government to assist traders who lost their shops and wares.

Ekwunife, who made this known on Saturday, February 26, 2022, while addressing traders at the market noted that the essence of her visit was to have first hand information of what happened a fortnight ago. She commended the leadership of Amawbia Market Amalgamated Traders Association (AMATA) for their courage and prompt response in assisting to ensure that the first did not spread to other sectors of the market.

“As your Senator it is my duty to draw the attention of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) through the Federal Government to provide succour to the affected traders and I’ll work so hard to ensure the needful is being done”, the Federal lawmaker noted.

Ekwunife appreciated the traders for their support in the last election, saying that she will continue to do exceedingly well for constituents to repay their trust. She pledged to complete the ongoing project she attracted to the market.

The Chairman Senate Committee on Science Technology and Innovation further made a donation of a million Naira to assist the affected traders in the rebuilding of their burnt shops in the market.
Earlier, the deputy Chairman of AMATA, Mr. Nwachukwu Uchechukwu appreciated Ekwunife for coming to the aid of the traders. He extolled the legislative acumen of the A-grade lawmaker, urging her to seek re-election for the traders will mobilize and give her maximum support.
