Gov Sanwo-Olu Commended As Class Of March Graduates From Ebony Life Creative Academy

Posted on April 12, 2022

The Head of the Ebony Life Creative Academy, Mr. Theart Korsten, has commended the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for the full sponsorship of the School, which has continued to allow Lagos residents to study at the Academy free of charge.

Korsten gave the commendation recently while speaking at the graduation ceremony of another set of 120 graduates, held at Ebony Life Place, Victoria Island Lagos, the first in the year 2022.

In his words: “Ebony Life Creative Academy could not have realised its immense impact on the African Film Industry without the support of Mr. Governor, through the Lagos State Creative Industry Initiative (LACI), which fully sponsors the Academy and trains the students in all processes of film making that would enable them to produce their films”.

Also speaking at the graduation ceremony, the Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs. Uzamat Akinbile-Yusuf, congratulated the graduands on their achievements, urging them to go out and conquer the world as they have been equipped with the requisite training to accomplish their career objectives.

Akinbile-Yusuf, represented by the Director of the Creative Arts Department in the Ministry, Mr. Idowu Johnson, said the graduating students must justify the huge investment of the State in them as that is the only way to demonstrate real gratitude.

Congratulating the graduands, the Commissioner admonished them saying, “To Whom Much is Given, Much is Expected. Therefore, I will implore you to make the best of this opportunity given to you by the State Government by being good ambassadors of the academy”.

The world-class Academy, which is expected to improve film production quality across segments in the creative industry and provide economic opportunities for youths in the State, is being funded by the Lagos State Government through the Lagos State Creative Industry Initiative (LACI) under the Ministry of Tourism Arts and Culture.

The free film making courses being offered at the academy include Screenwriting, Narrative, Cinematography, Film and Television Production, Audio and Sound Production, Directing, Acting for Screen, Lighting Art Direction for Film and Television, and Visual Post-Production among others.
