Nigerians Need Tinubu To Salvage The Country Now

Barrister Rotimi is the Convener of Tinubu Hope for Nigeria Vanguard which was unveiled recently in Akure, the capital city of Ondo State amid pomp at the NBA Secretariat, Alagbaka GRA at Oke Eda are of the city. With the main objective of mobilising support for the actualisation of the presidential ambition of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC), members of Tinubu Hope for Nigeria Vanguard, who majorly are professionals from diverse backgrounds, reiterated their determination to ensure that Nigerians see the positivity around their Principal even when they believe that Tinubu candidacy is sellable. Barrister Rotimi in this interview explained why he is supporting the former Governor of Lagos State to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari

Why Tinubu, why not any other aspirant in the APC?
Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a person I believe in, I know he can do it and I have that strong conviction within me that he has immense pedigree, he has the capacity and the capability, he has the technical know-how and the exposure to do the job. He is a man with the Midas Touch, he can turn things around for this country at this critical time and he can bring the paradigm shift we need to change things.

On Tinubu’s health and fitness to handle the post of Nigeria’s president
People can say whatever they want to say, ours is to put the facts out there. I am one of few Nigerians who have the privileged to seat one-on-one with Tinubu, and I can confirm beyond any reasonable doubt that Baba Asiwaju is very healthy and he is fit. For instance, a few days ago, he returned from lesser hajj, he came to Nigeria at about 2 am, held meetings till like 5 am and before we knew it, he was in Oyo the following day to attend the Fidau prayers for the late Alaafin of Oyo. So, how can people continue to say that a person like him is not fit? I can say it authoritatively that Bola Ahmed Tinubu is fit and healthy.

Misinformation and criticisms of the person of Bola Ahmed Tinubu 

That is exactly what we have started with our group. We have planned a series of engagements to drive the cause of campaigning for him byways of press conferences, special media interviews, summits, and symposiums to enlighten the people about the personality of this great politician. We have the responsibility to put the truth out there, and they say truth is always constant. There was a fact that Tinubu administered Lagos for eight years and during the period, he was able to draw up a 50-year development plan for the state. The development plan has no doubt made successive governors of Lagos state work and sustained the development we have seen in the state. You see that Asiwaju had been out of office for many years now, but he still remains the main issue in Nigerian politics today.  Ministers, governors, serving and past legislatures and other stakeholders are paying respect to Tinubu. It is because of his pedigree, it is because of the way he affects humanity. I am bold to say that he has that special way of bringing up leaders of tomorrow. That is what distinguishes Bola Ahmed Tinubu from other politicians in Nigeria.

How does Tinubu Hope for Nigeria Vanguard intend to go about the assignment?
We have people across Nigeria and we are open to different groups of like minds. We have put committees in place to do our work. One of such committees is the Directorate of Ethnic Inclusion, which I am heading. This Directorate is duty-bound to interface with people of diverse backgrounds and convince them to support Tinubu. We also have other functional committees. We will visit markets, grassroots, organise free medical services and other empowerment all in the name of Bola Ahmed Tinubu. These, we are doing on our own to contribute to the success of the presidential ambition of the man we love, the man we trust and have confidence that he won’t disappoint us when he gets there.

Integration with other support groups.
Like I said earlier, our door is opened for people of like minds because we are all working for the same goal.

Is there any challenge to convince people of professional backgrounds to work for Tinubu’s presidential ambition?
I am a successful lawyer that commands respect in society, and I have a good antecedent; being a man of a charitable heart who has been engaging in philanthropic works for the past 13 years. So, it was not difficult for me to tell people that this is where I am going. I must confess, I did not receive a No from the people I approached. What is binding us together now is Baba Asiwaju. Tinubu is a unique brand that is sellable.
