The Executive Governor of Anambra State, Prof Chukwuma Charles Soludo, has called on Christians from all denominations to remain united in faith and prayer, as the body of Jesus Christ is one.

Governor Soludo gave the charge at the Eucharistic and Thanksgiving Service for the Third Session of the Twelfth Synod of the Anglican Communion, Awka Diocese.

The event was held at Saint Peter’s Church, Abagana, Njikoka Local Government Area, with the theme: “Running the Christian Race: Implications for the Believers in Perilous Times”.

Governor Soludo stated that as a way of promoting the spirit of ecumenism in Anambra State, his administration holds daily prayers at the Governor’s Lodge with different denominations coming to minister the word of God.

He reaffirmed that the philosophy behind his administration is the mantra of one state, one people, one agenda adding that this is the bond bringing everyone together in the state.

Governor Soludo also spoke on the need for a system of affirmative action that will make the poor and less privileged have access to social amenities such as schools and hospitals built by churches or any faith based institution at affordable rates.

He further told the congregation that his administration is fully dedicated and determined with the collective support and cooperation of Ndi Anambra to position Anambra on the global map.

He asserted that members of his team are ready to provide good leadership by gradually and systematically rolling out the administration’s agenda that will not only make Anambra peaceful but become a livable and prosperous homeland for everyone living and doing business in the state.

Earlier, His Grace, the Most Reverend Alexander Chibuzo Ibezim welcomed Governor Soludo and his Deputy, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim to the Anglican Synod.

Archbishop Ibezim commended the new administration, asserting that after the successful conduct of Anambra State governorship election and the inauguration into office, Anambra has become more peaceful.

Prayers led by Most Reverend Akanya were later offered by the church for Governor Soludo and his Deputy, Dr Ibezi.
