The arrest of a 37-year old man, Fadare Adesoji, at the West African Examination Council, WAEC office, Ogba branch, Lagos State, for leakage of answers to questions in an examination, may have exposed the rotten side of some of the WAEC staff, which has contributed to the fall of educational standard in Nigeria.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Adesoji, who is believed to be a staff of WAEC, was arrested by the Police intelligence team from Area G Command, Ogba, within the WAEC premises, after he was allegedly caught wilfully forwarding answers of the Christian Religious Studies examination questions to students sitting for the examination through a WhatsApp group, which they had created for the dastardly purpose.

The suspect, Adesoji, was said to have committed the alleged offence through his Airtel phone number, 08025749758, before the Police apprehended and detained him at the Command for interrogation over his conduct.

During the interrogation, the Police discovered that the answers he sent to the students sitting for the examination through the  WhatsApp group they had created were accurate and by implication, they would have scored 100 percent without reading for the subject.

The Police found him culpable and subsequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrates Court for the alleged offence.

When he was arraigned, he pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Supol Bisi Ogunleye, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since the defendant pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. J.A. Adegun, granted him bail and ordered his remand in the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.

The matter was adjourned while the Police were said to have continued to intensify efforts to arrest his accomplices within the WAEC circle, which he had refused to disclose.

P.M.EXPRESS however, gathered that since the arrest of Adesoji, there had been crisis at the WAEC office in Ogba among the staff.
