A 20-year old man, Abubakar Usman, who procured charms to enhance his robbery operations has landed in trouble while testing its efficacy during an operation in Lagos State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Usman, was caught with the charms by the Police detectives from the Commissioner of Police Special Squad
at Old Abeokuta Road, Agege area of Lagos, on a tip off and detained for interrogation.
During interrogation, Usman was asked what he was doing with the charms and the toy gun found with him. He reportedly told the Police that he procured the charms recently in order to enhance his robbery operations in the State before he was eventually caught.
Having been found culpable by the Police, he was subsequently charged before the Ogba Magistrates Court for being in possession of charms and the toy gun, which he intended to use to commit felony.
He pleaded not guilty when he was arraigned in Court.
The prosecutor, Inspector Matthew Ikhaluode, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. Hughes, granted him bail in the sum of N200, 000 with two sureties in like sum who must show evidence of means of livelihood.
The defendant, Usman, was remanded in the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions while the matter was adjourned till 26th July, 2022, for mention.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the defendant escaped from being charged for armed robbery because he was yet to use the toy gun to rob victims before he was caught with it.
