KSA, PSquare Headline AMAA 2022, As Sanwo-Olu Hosts African Film Practitioners
Legendary Juju singer and master guitarist, King Sunny Ade and singing duo, P-Square have been announced as the headliners for the 18th edition of the Africa Movie Academy Awards, AMAA.
The movie awards will hold on Sunday, 30 October at the Jewel Aeida Hall in Lekki, Lagos.
The Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who is the host of the awards ceremony, has promised the expected film practitioners across Africa and the diaspora a wonderful week.
The activities for the 18th edition of AMAA kicked off on Friday, October 21, with an Islamic session in the Agege area of Lagos State. The prayer session was followed by a Mass ceremony at the St. Dominic Catholic Church in Yaba on Sunday, October 23.
On Tuesday, October 25, over 900 trainees graduated from three months long film camp, an initiative from the collaboration of Africa Film Academy in conjunction with the Lagos State Government through the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Tourism.
AMAA show director and content coordinator, Kingsley James, said the activities heralding the 18th edition of AMAA is a pointer to a memorable edition in 2022.
James also revealed other performers scheduled for the show include Yinka Davies, Young Jon, Ayo Bankole, Zadok, Matty, Veentage Band, DJ Kenchello, and Gerald Eze.
The road to the AMAA gala night continues with activities that include a film and music conference scheduled for Friday, October 28, at the Jewel Aeida Hall, Lekki, and the AMAA Fashion show scheduled for the same day and venue. The fashion show is expected to kick off at 8 pm.
Ms. Peace Anyiam-Osigwe, the founder of AMAA, expressed delight at the activities saying, “All I can tell you is that the 2022 AMAAs will blow your mind away. It will be the combination of glitz, glamour, and reward for true professionalism and artistry.”
