The Ekwe Council headquarters of Onuimo Local Government Area witnessed an absolutely glamorous event as the State Executive Committee of Imo APC led by the resourceful state chairman, Hon Sir Macdonald Kelechi Ebere, PhD, arrived the serene enclave for a Town Hall meeting.
Dressed in beautiful uniforms and appearing in various support groups, the APC members in the community danced cheerfully bearing drums, singing gloriously and flaunting the party’s flags.
Welcoming the APC members, the Party Chairman of Onuimo LGA, Comrade Jude Madu, stated that the Council was APC in words and in action.
According to him, “I welcome all of you, our party leaders and elders. Let me say it loud and clear: Onuimo is APC in words and action. We promise to deliver the candidates of the party in all levels of elections in 2023”.
In his presentation, the Sole Administrator of Onuimo LGA, Chief Charles Ijezie, commended the leadership of the party and  assured that the Council would vote massively for APC in view of the infrastructural development the government of Governor Hope Uzodimma has been bringing to zone.
He recalled some of the achievements of Governor Uzodimma to include the rehabilitation of seven health centres, construction of five kilometre road as well as the ongoing reconstruction of the Owerri – Okigwe Road.
With glamour and cheerfulness, the APC candidate for Onuimo State Constituency, Chief James Esile, assured that Onuimo LGA would vote massively for the ruling party.
He said, “The electorate here are aware of the good work of Governor Uzodimma. Speakers before me had enumerated the giant strides of the current APC government in power. I am not going to repeat them.
“However, I can let you know that Onuimo LGA is intact and together. Because of our togetherness and unity of purpose, winning is guaranteed. Take it from me, we shall deliver five – over – five for the single reason that the youths, women and men are thoroughly represented in the grassroots. Thank very much!”
Speaking, a former Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Maxwell Duru, after acknowledging the beautiful programmes of the Imo State Government, called on the Governor to build roads for the people of the area as all the utility and access roads in the area are in terrible condition.
Duru pleaded with the governor to quicken the construction of the School of Engineering at Umunna.
Earlier in his presentation, the state chairman of APC, Sir Mcdonald Ebere, Ph.D, who remained grateful to the people for coming out in their numbers to welcome the Town Hall Meeting Team, remarked that their presentation was in line with the purpose of the gathering.
“We, the leaders of APC in Imo State, sent by our performing governor, His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, are here to know you better. We came to hear your challenges and problems for onward presentation to the government in Owerri for solution.”
“Two, we are also here to strengthen you and to encourage you to workin for APC dutifully and comprehensively so that victory will be ours in the 2023 general elections. We can only achieve this task when work together and  love one another”, he opined.
Just as it was in Onuimo, the event in Okigwe was wonderfully colourful.. The moment the town hall team touched down at the council headquarters, the APC members and their supporters took over the place and turned it to a quasi rally. It took the intervention of party leaders to halt the enthusiastic gyrating party men and women who were drumming and dancing.
Receiving the team, the Commissioner of Sports and Youth Development, Chief Dan Ogu, commended the party leaders for coming to Okigwe. He pledged on behalf of the LGA that the electorate in the area would deliver APC in the 2023 general elections.
The Sole Administrator, Mrs. Nkechi Mbonu, noted that Okigwe knew no other party than APC and insisted the party would be victorious in the next general elections.
The APC candidate for Okigwe State Constituency, who also represents the LGA the Imo State House of Assembly, Chief Chidi Ogbunika, also known as Chydon, said the enclave is APC all the way.
His remarks were re – echoed by the Senatorial candidate of Imo North otherwise known as Okigwe zone, Engr. Patrick Ndubueze, who urged the masses to shun all other parties and vote for APC.
In his closing speech, Ebere called on the people who have requested the governor to address their challenges, to remain with Governor Uzodimma and APC.  He assured them that the governor on whose directive the town hall meeting visited, would tackle their problems of hunger, bad road and poor electricity distribution.
A one minute silence was observed for the repose of the soul of the late former Deputy Governor of Imo State, Engr Ebere Udeagu, who died a fortnight ago and who hailed from the area.
The meeting witnessed the presence of notable political heavyweights, community leaders, opinion moulders, grassroots mobilizers amongst others.
