The Nigerian police seemed to have buckled up to solve the security challenges that have ravaged Ikorodu residents in Lagos following the recent tracking of suspected criminals in the area.

The latest development was the tracking of two men suspected to be kidnappers who have been terrorising and abducting innocent people for ransom.

The suspects, Muhammed Abass, 24 and 28-year old Abu Peter are now cooling their heels in prison custody after they abducted a woman and her daughter in a popular hotel in Ikorodu and demanded N20million as ransom for their release.

The police, P.M.EXPRESS gathered, tracked them and arrested the two suspects while other accomplices escaped and said to be at large.

The incident happened at Ajadi Smart Hotel in Ikorodu where the abduction reportedly took place.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the victims, Mrs Judith Faniyo and her daughter, Success were accosted at the hotel and taken to an unknown place.

They were kept in captivity while the suspects contacted their relations for ransom negotiations before the police foiled the move and rescued the victims.

The suspects were charged before a Lagos Magistrates court for conspiracy, abduction and demand for ransom under the Criminal Code.

At the Ogba Magistrates court where they were arraigned, their plea was not taken, rather the presiding Magistrate, Mrs B.O Osusanmi ordered them to be remanded in prison custody.

The court also ordered the prosecutor, Inspector Simon to duplicate their files and send to DPP for advice.

Recently, Ikorodu area had become notorious for armed robbery, kidnapping, cultism and other forms of criminality never witnessed in the past.

P.M.EXPRESS learnt that some residents had to relocate elsewhere for safety with their families and relations.

These have been of serious concern to the police who have now mapped out certain measures which seemed to be working in the area and Lagos at large.
