2023: PDP Inaugurates Presidential Campaign Council & Management Committee, Moves To Win Anambra
Posted on November 1, 2022

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Tuesday inaugurated the Presidential Campaign Council and Management Committee saddled with the responsibility of delivering Anambra State to the party in the forthcoming presidential election.
The event, which took place at the Presidential Campaign Headquarters in Awka, had in attendance Senator Ben Obi, CON, who is the Chairman of the PCC; Mrs. Josephine Anenih, Chief Dan Ulasi, Chief Emeka Igwe, National Auditor of the Peoples Democratic Party; and other members of the Presidential Campaign Council and Management Committee; and party chieftains, amongst many.

Addressing the Campaign Council, the Chairman of the PCC, Senator Ben Ndi Obi, said at the inauguration that the party is set to coast home to victory and no one would be left behind. He noted that Atiku Abubakar has been a friend of Ndi-Igbo and will not be difficult to market in the South East.

“Our Presidential Candidate is not difficult to market. We’ve a man, who is committed to the course of Ndi-Igbo. I’ve no doubt in his commitment and sincerity in restoring the pride of Ndi-Igbo in Nigeria. Time and time again, he has practically demonstrated his love for the Igbo man. In 2007, he chose me as his running mate, in 2019, he picked Peter and now in 2023, he has again picked an Igbo man from Delta State in Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa. I am very confident more than ever that we’ll deliver, Anambra State is hundred percent PDP state”. Senator Ben Obi said.
Professor Obiora Okonkwo, OFR, who is the Director General of the Presidential Campaign Management Committee, on his part, said he accepted the responsibility of leading the campaign in the state because he believes in Atiku Abubakar and he has no doubt that he will deliver on all his promises and restructure Nigeria for the overall interest of Ndi-Igbo.

Professor Okonkwo charged the Campaign Council to take the sermon and goodwill message of Atiku Abubakar and Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa to the grassroots and ensure that they deliver Anambra State to the PDP.
He stated that his primary goal is to save Ndi-Igbo politically, and that Atiku Abubakar’s desire is to restore Ndi-Igbo pride in Nigeria and recreate the era of Chief Michael Ọkpara, when the South East dominated in various sectors like the commerce industry and numerous others.

“A key panacea to Nigeria’s developmental challenges is Restructuring, which will among other things give a sense of belonging to the federating units, mainstream equity and fairness in national governance and reduce distrust among Nigerians. It is on record that the PDP candidate is one of the strongest proponents of a truly federal system of government in Nigeria which aligns with the interests of the south east region. A restructured Nigeria along with state police, will also help address our security challenges which as the first order of government and at the barest minimum should be the protection of lives and property.“
“Let me end this brief speech by reiterating our readiness for the presidential election and our commitment to deliver Anambra State and Nigeria for the Atiku-Okowa ticket. In pursuit of this goal, my team and I will awaken the PDP spirit, galvanize old members of the party, bring in new members; take our inclusive and strictly issue-based campaign to every voter, ward and local government area of Anambra State spreading the rescue gospel encapsulated in the 5-point agenda of the Atiku-Okowa manifesto.”

“Anambra State will no doubt be the battle ground for the 2023 Presidential election. Given that about five (5) political parties will be running to occupy the seat of the President and two indigenous sons of the state are hoping to be on the ballot in February. It will be tough for anyone to want to claim victory in the state, but Atiku Abubakar is poised to win a landslide.” Professor Okonkwo concluded.
Mrs. Anenih said the only alternative for Ndi-Igbo is Atiku Abubakar and the PDP. She added that another 8 years of APC will annihilate Nigeria as we currently face an existential threat.
Other PDP members, who spoke during the inauguration expressed confidence in Professor Obiora Okonkwo’s ability to manage the Presidential Campaign; his aptitude for leadership and Senator Ben Obi’s expertise will be a strong asset for the PDP to win Anambra State.
Remarks from members of the Presidential Council indicated that the vehicle is gearing up and ready to go, which will begin soon with the inauguration of the campaign council. Given the caliber of the members of the council and management committee, we are confident of victory and will not rest until the election in Anamabra State is won, which is inevitable.
The Presidential Campaign Council and Management Committee were formally inaugurated by Archbishop Alex Ibezim, who was represented by Venerable Sam Okonkwo.
