“I have spent a lot of money on you and your family. I also gave you N85,000, bought wrappers as gifts and even assisted your parents on the farm, as such you cannot quit the marriage.”
P.M.EXPRESS reports that it was the submission of an embattled husband, Sani Idris, whose wife, Maryam Abdulmalik, dragged before the Court seeking for the dissolution of their two-year old marriage in Nasarawa State.
The Housewife, Mrs. Maryam Abdulmalik, filed the suit at Area Court, Mararaba, Nasarawa State, asking the Court to dissolve the marriage because she no longer loves the husband and wants to move on with her life in order to have peace.
An embittered Mrs. Maryam stated that she got married to Sani in January 2020 under the Islamic laws in Rugan Maliki, Mararaba Gurku, Nasarawa State and lived with him for one year and some months, but he did not care for her.
“I am ready to pay for my redemption in accordance with Islamic law procedures and practice because I do not have any feelings for him any longer,” she said.
She prayed the Court to dissolve their union so that they will go their separate ways.
The husband, Sani, who was present in Court, pleaded with his wife, Maryam, not to divorce him stating that he still loves her and will take care of her as it would amount to a huge loss for him because he has spent much money on her and her family.
The Presiding Judge, Malam Mohammed Jibril, ordered Maryam to return the N85,000 which her estranged husband gave to her including the wrappers he bought her as gifts.
The judge also ordered Sani to allow his wife, Maryam to move her belongings out of his house and adjourned the matter for judgment over the dissolution of the marriage.
