Guinness Nigeria Sustains Longstanding Eye Care Commitment With Donation Of Advanced Diagnostic Equipment To NAUTH

Posted on October 13, 2026

Guinness Nigeria Plc has reaffirmed its longstanding commitment to eye care with the delivery of a Takagi Autorefractor Keratometer (ARKM-200) to the Guinness Eye Centre at Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital (NAUTH), Nnewi.
The donation continues Guinness Nigeria’s established tradition of donating major ophthalmic equipment annually to the Guinness Eye Centres at NAUTH and the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH). Sustained over several years, this initiative reflects the company’s commitment to supporting healthcare facilities with essential equipment to strengthen their capacity to deliver quality eye care services.
The ARKM-200, identified by the NAUTH Centre as its priority equipment need for the year, supports refraction and essential ophthalmic diagnostic procedures. These include determining the appropriate prescription for eyeglass lenses and calculating intraocular lens power for patients requiring cataract surgery, among other eye assessments.
Guinness Nigeria’s commitment extends beyond equipment donations to interventions that directly benefit patients. In 2025, as part of activities marking its 75th anniversary, the company sponsored 150 free cataract surgeries across the Guinness Eye Centres at NAUTH and LUTH, helping beneficiaries access essential treatment to improve their sight and quality of life.
In a letter of appreciation addressed to Guinness Nigeria, Dr Odili Okoye, Chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee at NAUTH, commended the company for the latest donation, noting that it “will go a long way in improving our services to the patients at the Guinness Eye Centre, Onitsha.” The hospital also acknowledged Guinness Nigeria’s broader, sustained support over the years.
Commenting on the donation, Rotimi Odusola, Corporate Relations Director, Guinness Nigeria Plc, said:
“Our longstanding commitment to the Guinness Eye Centres at NAUTH and LUTH reflects our belief in sustained investment in healthcare and the communities we serve. Over the years, our annual equipment donations have helped support the centres’ capacity to deliver eye care, while our sponsorship of 150 free cataract surgeries in 2025, as part of our 75th anniversary celebrations, extended that support directly to patients. This latest donation continues that tradition, as we remain committed to supporting healthcare professionals and helping more Nigerians access essential eye care.”
Through its continued partnership with the two centres, Guinness Nigeria seeks to contribute to stronger healthcare delivery and improved eye health outcomes for Nigerians. By sustaining its annual equipment donations and supporting initiatives that expand access to treatment, the company continues to demonstrate its commitment to positive community impact.
As Guinness Nigeria continues to build for more, its investment in community health remains an important part of its broader commitment to creating lasting value for the communities it serves.
