He recollected the difficulty experienced while campaigning in the South Senatorial Zone, as on many occasions, security personnel outnumbered attendees at some rallies, and how touts made life hellish for citizens in Onitsha and Awka, appreciating God that the situation has improved.
While expressing optimism that the situation will keep improving, Professor Soludo hinted that his administration declared a state of emergency on road infrastructure, leading to award of two hundred and thirty (230) kilometer of roads in the past eight months.
The Governor continued that Industrial parks were being established in the state with 200 hectares of land at Ogboji provided for pharmaceutical industrial park, 5,000 hectares within the capital territory for an industrial city, the largest pharmaceutical marketing hub at Oba and the Auto park at Akwaihedi, saying that his administration, in partnership with EEDC and the private sector is working round the clock to provide 24/7 electricity for the state.
Professor Soludo informed all that government was fighting unemployment and strengthening educational reforms through the employment of 5,000 teachers whose letters of appointment were handed over to them, recruitment of 300 medical doctors and others to end an era of hospitals without doctors and schools without teachers.
He also spoke on the “1 Youth 2 skills” programme, which will see 2.5 billion Naira being budgeted to train and extend grants and soft loans to over 4,000 youths before March 2023, the establishment of the private sector driven Telemedicine Health Center at Awkuzu, among others.
