Lagos Taekwondo Team Dedicate Delta 2022 Medals To Sports Commission

The taekwondo team from Lagos have dedicated the medals won at the 21st National Sports Festival tagged Delta 2022 to the institution of Lagos State Sports Commission.
The team, at the end of hostilities inside the Sports Hall of Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba, won 3 gold and 3 silver a s 2 bronze medals.
An elated chairman of Lagos State Taekwondo Association, Jimmy Ogunnowo, said the players, coaches and officials were so happy making it this far during the sports festival winning the medals for the state.
Ogunnowo attributed the medals won to the commitment and determination of Lagos State Sports Commission, LSSC, the coaching crew and the members of the board of the association to make proud the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

To Ogunnowo, the association would not have made the feat if not for the Sports Commission which created a well structured platform for the coaches to produce credible champions who had been able to win 3 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze medals at the competition.
The chairman was happy for the feat which he described as a record-breaking outing as the number of laurels won in Delta 2022 is an improvement on the two editions of the sports festivals in Abuja in 2018 and Edo State in 2021, adding that the association’s technical crew worked hard to ensure that the athletes achieved excellent performances at the Games.

“We had a good number of preparatory competitions which we featured in. These we used to build confidence and winning spirit in the athletes. I am happy that our commitment and hard work for success are not in vain,” Ogunnowo said.
The chairman disclosed that the association is planning a kind of succession arrangement in 2023 where elite athletes will be paired with upcoming taekwondoists in order to have a pool of future champions.
