Why I Drew The Attention of the Senate To Non-capturing Of Thousands Of Duly Employed Unizik Staff – Ekwunife
KINGSLEY UBANI

The Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Uche Ekwunife, PhD, has restated her reasons for weighing into the challenges faced by thousands of duly employed staff of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, who had not been remunerated for over two years.
Ekwunife, who made this known while speaking as a guest on Odenigbo 99.1fm on Monday, December 26, 2022, described the situation as the height of insensitivity.
Senator Ekwunife stated that she had to bring the issue to the floor of the senate after several attempts to get the office of the Accountant General to initiate the process of capturing the affected staff.
“It is inhuman that someone will work for one month and won’t get paid let alone two years yet the person is transporting himself to work on daily basis. Even more painful is the fact that many of these staff have children and families to feed”, Ekwunife lamented.
Ekwunife further stated that she is confident that with the backing of the National Assembly, the affected staff will soon have cause to smile. “Once I return back to Abuja, we will continue from where we stopped and ensure that the affected staff are remunerated in line with the terms of their employment”, she added.
