32 Teams Register For Awolowo Memorial Kids Cup In Lagos

32 teams have been duly registered to take part in the ninth editions of Obafemi & H.I.D Awolowo Memorial Kids Cup.

This was disclosed by the Secretary General of National Youth Soccer Organisation, Ganiu Aliu while chatting with Journalists in Lagos.

The annual tournament is being sponsored by President Awolowo Memorial Foundation, Dr Tokunbo Awolowo Dosunmu and organised by National Youth Soccer Organisation.

Aliu told our correspondent that the competition is being sponsored to mark 114 years posthumous birthday of Late Chief Obafemi Awolowo and also to discover young talents at the tender age.

Aliu disclosed that 16 teams would involve in U-10 boys and U-17 female category saying that all the teams were selected in southwest zone.

“We have more than enough teams that want to take part in this competition but we reduce them to 16 teams in each category so that we would finish the tourney within a month,”he said.

Aliu also stated that the competition would kick off on 5, February, 2023 at the Apogbon sports center while the final ceremony would hold on 6,March at the Abati Barracks football pitch, Ojuelegba, Surulere.

He however urged the participants to be a good ambassadors of their clubs and shun soccer hooliganism that may tarnish the image of the competition.
