A 42-year old man Ohwonohwu Sheriff has been arrested and charged before a Lagos court for allegedly collecting his colleague’s Toyota Camry car and deposited it as collateral.

The incident happened at the terminal of Murtala Muhammed International Airport at Ikeja, Lagos where they work.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that Sheriff had clients who wanted to buy flight tickets to travel abroad. However, he reportedly mismanaged their money, was in trouble and could not buy them tickets.

It was gathered that Sheriff had asked his colleague, James Olabisi to use his car with registration number, EPE 46 PE valued N3.5m and he obliged. The Edo State-born Sheriff then secretly used the car to borrow money from an undisclosed person and facilitated the tickets issuance for his clients.
However, after he sorted out the ticket issue with his clients, he could not retrieve the car to the owner.

It was learnt that Sheriff had cleverly used Olabisi’s name to enter into an agreement without Olabisi’s knowledge until the matter was reported to the police and the whole thing was exposed. Sheriff was then arrested and charged before Ogba Magistrates court for stealing and fraud under the Criminal Code.
He pleaded not guilty.
The presiding Magistrate, Mrs O. Dan-Oni granted him bail in the sum of N1m with two surety in like sum.
He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till 11th of September, 2017.
