Lagos FA Cup: Messiah FC Ride On Dosu Joseph To Quarter Final

A Lagos-based NLO team, Messiah Football Club on Sunday booked their place in the quarter finals of the ongoing Lagos State Challenge Cup. In the round of 16 played decided on Sunday, the 2015 FA Cup quarter finalist defeated Dosu Joseph Academy 4-3 on penalty shootout out after 2-2 at the regulation time. The match which held at the Onikan stadium saw the two teams scored four goals in a highly entertaining encounter as fans were delighted with the performance of the teams. Reacting to the victory, Messiah team manager, Deji Beecroft expressed gratitude to God for the victory saying that both teams played well but his team were lucky to have won the game through penalty shootout. “It was another tough battle against Dosu Academy. They gave us a good fight throughout the encounter. I am happy that we were able to win the game through penalties. I congratulate my players, coaching crew for the job well done,” he said. In other results, defending champions, Dannaz defeated Sporting FC 4-2 on penalties after 2-2 at the regulation time, Ikorodu City walloped Divine Praise 3-0, Real Sapphire FC suffered 1-2 to Smart city feeders FC, Box 2 Box humbled Tradesafe Sports 4-2, while Future Pro beat Young Stars 3-2. As at the time filing the report, Badagry United are facing Utility Sports in the last match of the round of 16. All quarter final matches, according to the organizers, would hold on Tuesday at the Onikan stadium.
