Two men, Kazeem Badmos, 45 and Nurudeen Adeoye, 45, have been arrested for allegedly engaging Police officers from the Ikotun Division in public brawl during the Governorship and State House of Assembly elections in Lagos State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that a Police Constable attached to Ikotun Division, Ariyo Moshood, is lying critically ill at an undisclosed hospital after he was pushed from a moving vehicle and he hit his head on the edge of the gutter during the mayhem.
The incident happened at Ikotun Igando Road, Ikotun, Lagos, where the suspects, Badmos and Adeoye alongside others now at large reportedly engaged the Police officers led by the DPO,  CSP Johnson Adagba, in a fight.
The cause of the fight, which has left many Police officers with various degree of injuries, was as a result of disobedience to  lawful order during the election.
They were said to be moving with their vehicle during the election while there was restriction of movement of vehicles till after the election.
While the men were driving, the Police accosted them to know why they were on the road despite the restriction directives by the Government on that day. They ignored the Police and attempted to move on. This led to serious argument, which led to the attack on the Police officers and many sustained injury in the process. However, the Police managed to arrest the two prime suspects and detained them at the station.
They were later charged before the Ejigbo Magistrates Court for conspiracy, assault, and obstruction.
They pleaded not guilty when they were arraigned.
The prosecutor, Inspector Simeon Njue, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since they pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that they actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A.K. Dosumu, granted them bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment.
They were remanded in custody at the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when they will perfect their bail conditions while the matter was adjourned till 12th April, 2023, for mention.
