Randle General Hospital Calls On Residents To Take Steps To Prevent Oral Diseases

The Dental Centre of Randle General Hospital (RGH), Surulere, Lagos, recently joined its counterparts across the globe to commemorate this year’s World Oral Health Day, with a renewed call on Lagos residents to take relevant steps to prevent oral-related diseases.  
Speaking at a Free Dental Screening and Awareness Programme organised by the Centre with the theme “Be Proud of your Mouth”, the Head of the Dental Clinic at the RGH, Dr. Lateefat Agbaje, stresses the need for good Oral Hygiene and steps to be taken to prevent diseases such as dental caries (holes in the teeth) and periodontitis (gum swelling, bleeding and loose teeth).

Agbaje stated further that the programme was organised for the benefit of patients and staff as part of the hospital’s contribution to reducing the burden of oral health-related diseases in the State.

The Chairperson of the Organising Committee, Dr. Augusta Antonio and other members of the Dental Team enlightened participants on how to maintain proper hygiene of the teeth including the do’s and don’ts of good toothbrush habits and ideal toothpaste to use.

The Dental Team of Randle General Hospital, Surulere, also visited Gbaja Girls’ Junior and Senior High Schools as part of activities marking the day to enlighten students and staff of the schools on good Oral Hygiene.

The team distributed gift items such as Toothbrushes and Toothpaste to the students and staff of the schools, in addition to holding a Free Dental Checkup and Consultation for over 300 attendants at the programme.
