Cross River: How Betta Edu Cleared Fees Of Over 700 School Children In Adadama Ward Of Abi LGA

Posted on April 7, 2023

Just like a sweet wine in an old bottle, Dr Betta Edu continues doing what she is best known for by paying school fees for students and pupils of Adadama Ward in Abi Local Government Area.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) National Women Leader in her usual show of affection paid school fees for over 700 primary and secondary school pupils and students in Adadama Ward. This gesture is also a demonstration of her penchant love for education, the need for an average Nigerian and Adadama child to have quality education.
The Former Director General of Cross River State Primary Healthcare Development Agency and Commissioner for Health has been in charge of the welfare of the pupils in the last 8 years, paying their school fees, providing school bags, clothes, sandals, exercise books and so many other educational materials including teachers welfare.
Reacting, a Women Leader from one of the communities, Mrs. Abigail Lebo, stressed that it was the first time an individual will singlehandedly take charge of the tuition fees of children, providing school bags, clothes, sandals and other things for them every year, the parent are happy and they have been praying for God to protect her and empower her to do more.
According to her, the teachers in their own little way have been in support of the laudable programme by providing the pupils the best support in terms of teaching and guidance.
“One is not rich until one can count the number of people one has helped to realise their potentials, adding that Adadama women can testify to the godly path Dr Betta Edu has chosen to thread with the little at her disposal; she noted. We also thank her for donating about million Naira to secure accreditation of the Migrant School in Adadama. Now children can write WAEC on Adadama Migrant School.”
“Our people should learn from this godly way she has chosen to give back to the society; it is not until one gives millions of Naira before one will be able to make an impact but the little we give can go a long way to give hope to the hopeless.”
“Some of the children have lost their both parents, most parents can’t go to farm anymore because of the communal clash and war between Adadama and Nkwokocha people of Ebonyi State. The economy of the village is down. We can’t produce even garri because there is no farm. if not for Dr Betta, some of them wouldn’t have been able to pay the school fees. Many of them have stopped coming to school because they couldn’t pay their school fees, but we will send for them to inform them that their mother has settled their school fees,” said Mrs. Mercy Ekom.
The village Eval and PTA expressed their gratitude to Dr Betta Edu.
