Ekwunife Conducts Oversight Function At Electronics Development Institute In Ukwulu

The Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Uche Ekwunife, PhD, on 11th May, 2023, continued her legislative function by conducting a comprehensive oversight at Electronics Development Institute (ELDI) in Ukwulu, Dunukofia LGA of Anambra State.

The Electronics Development Institute (ELDI) is one of the institutions under the National Agency For Science and Engineering Infrastructure captured under the Senate Committee on Science, Technology and Innovation.

Welcoming the Senator, the ELDI Managing Director, Engr. Dr. Patrick Okwu commended the Federal Lawmaker for her continuous efforts in ensuring that ELDI operates at full capacity and highlighted that the Chairman Senate Committee on Science, Technology and Innovation through her immense efforts has revived the institution and presented some of their challenges for further legislative actions.

Speaking, Senator Ekwunife commended the Managing Director for his encouraging efforts towards the development recorded in the institution, adding that the beautiful smiles the staff wear is evidence that the Director is performing wonders.

The Chairman Senate Committee on Science, Technology and Innovation noted that as a Senator from the State, she ensured that the institution is revitalized to provide the necessary services. She emphasized that since 1992 NASENI was created with the cardinal objective and mandate of ensuring Technological development in the Country, funding was the major problem of the Agency until she became the Senate Committee Chairman on Science, Technology and Innovation and facilitated the transfer of the agency to the office of the President and today, the NASENI Agency receives necessary fundings.

The Federal Lawmaker maintained that the mission of NASENI was to establish and nurture appropriate and dynamic Science and Engineering Infrastructure-base for achieving home-initiated and home-sustained industrialization through the development of relevant processes, capital goods and equipment necessary for job creation, national economic well-being and progress. She pointed out that the Agency has the capacity to create jobs and improve the economy..


The quintessential Lawmaker promised to continue championing the course of the Agency and take their complaints to the Senate of the National Assembly.
