Man, 34, In Police Net For Stoning Bosom Friend To Death Over N100,000

Police operatives from the Adamawa State Command have arrested a 34-year old man, Inuwa Yunusa, for allegedly stoning his close friend, Augustine Otti, to death and robbing him of the sum N100,000 before he escaped.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Gyawana, Lamurde Local Government Area of the State, while the suspect was accompanying the deseased to make complete payment of rice he bought from a customer.
While they were going, the suspect, Yunusa, subdued the deceased by hitting him with a strong object on the head. He fell down and the suspect then threw him into a gutter before he robbed him of the money with him and escaped.
This was disclosed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, who confirmed that the suspect was in Police custody undergoing interrogation over the alleged murder.
SP Nguroje stated further that the suspect stoned the deceased until he was sure he had died before taking away from him the sum of N100,000 cash and escaped.
“The suspect brutally killed the deceased on the 18th April, 2023, at about 8:00pm while accompanying him to go and complete payment of rice he bought at Mbemum village.”
However, he ran out of luck as he was later arrested by Police operatives from the Adamawa State Command.
According to SP Nguroje, the suspect was apprehended following the recovery of material evidence at the scene of the crime, which was linked to him.
He stated, “Interestingly, the suspect voluntarily made a confessional statement, stating that he was only interested in taking possession of the deceased money”.
The Police stated that the suspect will be charged before the Court for the alleged murder under the Criminal Laws of the State but that will be after the conclusion of investigations by the Police.
