Ohanaeze Women Leader, Barr. Ojukwu Begins Empowerment Of Igbo Women In Lagos

Few weeks after the wife of Late Ikemba Nnewi first son, Barrister Victoria Odumegwu Ojukwu, was elected Ohanaeze Ndigbo Women Leader in Lagos State, she is set to commence empowerment programmes for Igbo women across the Local Council Areas in Lagos State. 
P.M.EXPRESS reports that it was the outcome of their expanded Executive meeting held at the Ohanaeze Secretariat at James Robinson Street, Surulere area of Lagos State.
Those who attended the meeting were the Executives and other women came from the Local Council Areas in the State.
This was disclosed by Barr. Mrs. Ojukwu, who described the programme as pet project to touch the lives of the less privileged Igbo women including the widows and jobless in the State.
Apart from the project, Mrs. Ojukwu explained that having accepted to be the Ohanaeze Women Leader, she will use the position to promote Igbo culture and tradition and as well promote friendship and peace with Igbo and other ethnic groups.
She stated that apart from uniting the Igbo women, the new executive will work towards advancing the welfare by bringing everyone along to speak with one voice.
She said that the empowerment programme will include organizing training programmes to educate the women on how to manage their homes,  respect their husbands and engage in working not to be total liability to their husbands and families.
Mrs. Ojukwu also stated that to achieve the empowerment project, they will  reach out to stakeholders, patrons,  organizations and solicit for their support to empoeer the less privileged women among them.
She also hinted that they will raise funds through community activities by exhibiting of Igbo culture and inviting stakeholders to support the project and that whatever they realized will be used to empower those vulnerable people among them including women who are bread winners in their families.
Barr. Ojukwu also explained that there are rich widows among them and she will reach out to them and solicit for their support and by such gesture the jobless women will have work and will have less time for any gossip.
She thanked the Ohanaeze President,  Chief Solomon Ogbonna Aguene, for his support for women and described him as a wonderful person who is always ready to assist the women.
