The Ikeja Local Government has promised to continue to initiate policies and projects that will directly impact on the lives of the residents while also providing services that will guarantee a healthy environment for its people.

IKEJA LOCAL GOVERNMENT PROMISES IMPACTFUL POLICIES, PROJECTS FOR RESIDENTS

The Ikeja Local Government has promised to continue to initiate policies and projects that will directly impact on the lives of the residents while also providing services that will guarantee a healthy environment for its people.

The Chairman of Ikeja LGA, Hon. Mojeed Alabi Balogun, made the promise during a meeting with members of the local government monitoring team from the Lagos State Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs who were on a working visit to the Council.

Represented by the Vice Chairman, Hon. Yomi Mayungbe at the meeting, Balogun reiterated the commitment of the Ikeja Local Government authority to ensure that it works seamlessly with various government Ministries, Departments and Agencies to better the lives of the residents.

He pointed out that the Local Government is doing a lot in terms of environmental health, adding that the council is also making frantic efforts to upgrade the working tools of the Environmental Department to further strengthen its capacity to perform better.

In his remarks, the Council Manager, Mr. Azeez Saheed, emphasised the need for uniformity in directives from both the Local Government and the State Government through the Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs as well as MDAs, saying that there is a need for harmonisation in government policies to make the local government tasks easy, smooth and fast.

The leader of the team and Director, Local Government Monitoring Department in the Ministry, Mr. Ogunjobi Raymond, explained that the purpose of the visit was to assess the Council programmes, projects and activities, saying “We need to monitor your projects and ensure that they conform with set standards”.

He advised the local government management team to embark on people-oriented programmes and projects, especially in the provision of modern infrastructure such as good roads and drainages among others.
