10th Senate: Senator Godswill Akpabio Emerges As Senate President

Former Honourable Minister of Niger Delta Affairs and former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has emerged as the President of the 10th Senate. 
Senator Ali Ndume nominated Senator Godswill Akpabio and was seconded by Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola.
While Senator Elisha Abbo nominated Senator Yari.
After rounds of voting by the Senators-Elect, Yari secured 46 votes while Akpabio got 63 votes.
With the announcement of the result, Senator Akpabio defeated his rival, former Governor of Zamfara, Senator Abdulahi Yari, to emerge as the winner and declared as the Senate President
