As elected representatives of the Imo people across the 27 Local Government Areas in the state, the 10th Imo State House of Assembly is expected to assert the will of the people by invoking the relevant provisions of the constitution in the discharge of their statutory responsibilities of lawmaking, oversight functions and checkmating the executive arm to prevent waste and mismanagement. And this would not be possible without a leadership direction through the emergence of the Speaker, Deputy Speaker, principal officers alongside other elected honourable members.
In the light of above, therefore, the 10th Imo State House Assembly came underway on Friday, June 16, 2023, as the member representing Ihitte Uboma State Constituency, Rt. Hon. Chike Olemgbe, emerged as the Speaker of the 10th Imo State House of Assembly while Rt. Hon. Amarachi Chyna Iwuanyanwu, Ksc, representing Nwangele State Constituency, was re-elected back-to-back as the Deputy Speaker of the Assembly.
It was a three-horse race, which adopted an open ballot system supervised by the Clerk and Head of Legislative Service, Imo State House of Assembly, Barr. Chinelo Adora; where members nominated names of their choice candidates for the office of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker respectively, which was seconded by another, and allowed a voice vote of yea or nay to such nomination.
For the office of the Deputy Speaker, 10th Imo Assembly, Hon. Chief Sam Nkem Otuibe (APC), member representing Ahiazu Mbaise State Constituency, nominated Rt. Hon. Amarachi Chyna Iwuanyanwu, a second missionary journey parliamentarian and Deputy Speaker of the 9th Imo Assembly, as his preferred and most qualified candidate for the position of Deputy Speaker of 10th Assembly, which was loudly seconded by Hon. Modestus Osakwe (PDP), member representing Isu State Constituency.
During his remarks, after his nomination and consensus adoption by other members of the Assembly as Deputy Speaker of the 10th IMHA, Rt. Hon. Amarachi Chyna Iwuanyanwu, while expressing his depth of gratitude for the show of love, support and solidarity by his colleagues, pledged to continue in his legislative responsibility, not only to the good  people of Nwangele State Constituency but to the State Government and the people of Imo State.
In his own words, the highly cerebral, experienced, proactive and egghead state legislator, Amara Iwuanyanwu, posited thus: “I will not only be an impactive and responsive lawmaker, I will also continue to be the Stabilizer and a man of Capacity”.
He however, commended the State Governor, His Excellency Senator Hope Uzodimma, for his revolutionary infrastructural development in the state and impactful governance through people-oriented leadership, which has received heartwarming commendations from home and in the diaspora.
Having been elected as the Deputy Speaker of the 10th Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Amara Chyna Iwuanyanwu was duly administered Oath of Allegiance, Oath of Membership of Imo State House of Assembly and Oath of Office as Deputy Speaker of the 10th Imo Assembly.
Highpoint of the event was a prayer session conducted at his Owerri Civic Centre; where Ministers of God from the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) converged in an atmosphere of spiritual cafeteria to bless him, as they unanimously released  God’s abiding grace, wisdom, new leadership direction, sustained protection and spirit of excellence in another four years of his superlative and productive legislative outings.
Already known for his sense of hospitality, the obviously elated Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Amara Chyna Iwuanyanwu, played host to the leadership of Nwangele LGA; traditional rulers, political associates, friends,  members of his campaign organisation, party faithful, support groups and numerous well wishers, who were adequately served mouth-watering sumptuous meals for dinner. Indeed, it was a day to remember and which will last for a long time in the memory of  those in attendance.
