The crises ravaging the factional Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State took another dimension following the emergence of three Presidents, who want to occupy the seat after Chief Sunday Ossai was suspended.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the embattled Chief Ossai has insisted that he remains the President and the decision of the majority of the Executives to suspend him remains null and viod. Chief Ossai has two other executives members namely Madam Evelyn and Barrister Mrs. Nkechi behind him.
On the other hand, majority of the Executives has declared Chief Sunnex Ohanazoeze as the Acting President because he was Ossai’s Deputy before he was suspended and hails from Anambra State.
But Chief Deacon Friday, C. Obi is insisting that he is the rightful person to take over from Chief Ossai because it was the turn of Enugu State in the Zoning arrangements of Ohanaeze Ndigbo and by ranking, he is the next person from Enugu State to take over.
While the trio of Ossai, Ohanazoeze and Deacon Obi have been in the battlefield for who among them will take over, the former General Secretary of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State, Chief Evaristus Ozonweke, has debunked the claims that he wants to take over as Ohanaeze President.
He explained that he never supported the suspension or any impeachment of Chief Sunday Ossai but there was urgent need to revitalize Ohanaeze Ndigbo leadership in Lagos State.
Presently, the ongoing crisis emanating from the suspension of Chief Ossai, seems to have ended up in creating more confusion, tension and instability to the group.
This is even as Chief Solomon Ogbonna Aguene has advised the appointed President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, to be wary of what was happening in Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State and to avoid disgruntled elements with hidden agenda to deceive and mislead him.
Chief Aguene described what is happening among the members of the factional rebel Ohanaeze group as shameful and disgraceful and noted that he was not surprised because their purported election of executives was illegal, null and void.
Aguene, on record in the face of the law, remains the legal and authentic President of Lagos State Chapter of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, following a Court Consent Judgment, which empowered him to remain in office until 2026.
He advised Chief Iwuanyanwu to follow what he called “the courageous foot steps of late Ohanaeze Ndigbo PG, Professor George Obiozor, who he said, refused to succumb to the antics of some of the disgruntled elements unlike former PG Nnia Nwodo, who brought crisis into Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State leadership aided by Chief Evaristus Ozonweke, during the tenure of Barrister Fabian Onwughalu.
Aguene warned Igbo Stakeholders and residents in Lagos State against what he said is a ”decoy meant to deceive Ndigbo”.
“Chief Dr. Emmanuel Iwuanyawu is a very significant, intelligent, respected Igbo Leader of reckoning and he has made name over the years. But he must be very careful with Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide leadership before some jobless confusionists deceive him and that is why I decided to speak up now as an insider in Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State Chapter and President” Aguene stated.
