Bus Driver, Conductor Docked For Pouring Acid On Policeman

A bus driver, Farouk Durojaiye and his conductor, Sule Dada have been arrested and charged before Isolo Magistrate’s court for allegedly assaulting a traffic police officer by pouring on him a substance suspected to be an acid.
The incident happened along 7/8 Bus Stop along Airport Road in Ajao Estate, Lagos State, Nigeria.
The victim, Sergeant Okerentie Ese attached to Ajao Estate Division suffered this fate when he was deployed on the road to control traffic along the road.
While he was performing his duty, the suspects reportedly contravened traffic law with their Volkswagen Bus with registration number SMK 606 XA. They were apprehended and in anger, the suspects allegedly brought out the substance and poured it on Ese’s body.
His uniform immediately got burnt and he suffered a degree of injury before rescue came and neutralize the effect before then he has already suffered injury.
The suspects were arrested and taken to the station before they were arraigned in court.
They were charged with assault and conduct to cause breach of public peace by pouring a substance to be chemical on the police officer while he was performing his lawful duty.
They pleaded not guilty.
The presiding Magistrate, Mrs J.O.E Adedayo granted them bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.
They were remanded in prison custody pending when they will perfect their bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till 26 October 2016.
