We Are Harmless Thieves, Convicts Tell Court
CYRIACUS IZUEKWE

Two men who were arrested and charged before a Lagos court admitted that they were thieves but insisted they were harmless. They claimed not to have used violence to steal from people like armed robbers usually do when they strike.
They pleaded guilty before Ejigbo Magistrates court and were sentenced to three years imprisonment without an option of fine. The convicts, Michael Olumoke, 28 and Alex Felix, 28 were arrested at Akinyemi Street, Igando where they jumped through the fence to steal from the compound of one Alhaji Akinyemi Fakai.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that luck ran out on them when the security men saw and apprehended them. They confessed that they were thieves and had come to steal from the compound before they were apprehended. The security men handed them over to the police at Igando Division where they were detained.
Police source said during interrogation, the suspects confessed that they were thieves, they had no job and they started stealing from people without the use of force or arms.
The prosecutor, Supol Kenneth Asibor presented the facts before the court and asked the court to sentence them accordingly. The presiding Magistrate, Mrs J.O.E Ajayi found them guilty and sentenced them accordingly.
While they were being taken down to prison, one of the suspects said that it was better they said the truth and suffer for their actions than telling lies in court and still suffer in detention.
