Posted on January 13, 2024

The Ultima Studios has announced the launch of a new trailblazing TV reality show, the Next Afrobeats Star, to redefine the landscape of the global music industry.

The new reality show with its groundbreaking approach was unveiled in Lagos Friday to discovering and nurturing fresh talents.

Speaking at the launch, Mr. Femi Ayeni, CEO of Ultima Group and executive producer of the reality show said the main focus of the show is to export the vibrant culture of Afrobeats to the world as it promises an unparalleled platform for dreamers to step into the limelight.

Next Afrobeats Star is not just a show; it’s a movement to propel the infectious rhythms of Afrobeats onto the global stage. The tagline –Dream, Compete, Soar– encapsulates the essence of Next Afrobeats Star – a platform where dreams are nurtured, competition is fierce, and aspiring musicians take flight toward international acclaim,” Ayeni said.

The show opened on 12 January will be helmed by four top producers, who act as judges, coaches and facilitators for the show. They are: André Vibez, Sarz, Puffy Tee, and P.Priime.

These four beatmakers will be tasked with scouting and refining the best talents from thousands of expected contestants while eventual winners will be superstars who will make pop music.

Dreamers, music enthusiasts, and undiscovered talents are invited to embark on a transformative journey with Next Afrobeats Star.

Ultima Studios, having played a pivotal role in Nigeria’s entertainment landscape, continues its pioneering legacy with the new talents hunt event.

From introducing satellite dishes for TV signals in the late ’80s to adopting international formats with “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire” in 2004, Project Fame West Africa in 2008, Lions’ Den in 2021 and Family Feud in 2022, Ultima Studios now pioneers the launch of its own original international-standard music reality format with Next Afrobeats Star.

The star-studded lineup of iconic music producers behind some of the biggest Afrobeats hits is on a mission to identify and mentor the future of Afrobeats, helping these aspiring talents navigate this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to make their dreams come alive.

Starting January 2023, aspiring musicians are encouraged to text NAS to 13013 from an MTN line to receive a unique code to access the registration portal at www.nextafrobeatsstar.com.

On the portal, the participant will download a music track of choice, as it is available, make music to it, and re-upload it on the NAS website.

Participants can text several times to download as many instrumentals and give the judges several options to choose from, thereby increasing their chances.

The Next Afrobeats Star live shows are scheduled to commence in April 2024 and promise a 10-week journey filled with auditions, mentorship, and electrifying performances.
